If you’re looking for the Samsung Galaxy experience at a budget friendly price tag Verizon’s got your back. Starting today the carrier is offering the Galaxy S III mini and Galaxy S4 mini. Both handsets come running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with Samsung’s latest TouchWiz UI on top.

The Galaxy S III mini is looking pretty outdated at this point. It comes equipped with a 4-inch 800 x 400-pixel Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage with microSD support, a 1,500mAh battery, and NFC. It packs a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing VGA shooter. You can pick it up for $49.99 with a two-year contract, $249.99 wholesale or $10.56 per month on Verizon Edge.

The Galaxy S4 mini comes equipped with a 4.3-inch 960 x 540-pixel Super AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with microSD support, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel secondary camera, a 1900mAh battery and NFC. It comes in black or white and costs $99.99 with a two-year contract, $399.99 upfront or $16.81 per month on Verizon’s Edge plan.

These aren’t necessarily bad smartphones, but if you’re willing to look beyond Samsung there are some great low-cost options that won’t force you to sacrifice on specs. Google’s new Nexus 5 is just $349 off-contract from the Play Store, if you aren’t tied to Verizon, and you can pick the Moto X from Amazon for just one penny with a two-year contract.
